Knowledge - Based Vision and Simple

چکیده

The vast majority of work in machine vision emphasizes the representation of perceived objects and events: it is these internal representations that incorporate thèknowledge' in knowledge-based vision or form thèmodels' in model-based vision. In this paper, we discuss simple machine vision systems developed by artiicial evolution rather than traditional engineering design techniques, and note that the task of identifying internal representations within such systems is made diicult by the lack of an operational deenition of representation at the causal mechanistic level. Consequently, we question the nature and indeed the existence of representations posited to be used within natural vision systems (i.e., animals). We conclude that representations argued for on a priori grounds by external observers of a particular vision system may well be illusory, and are at best place-holders for yet-to-be-identiied causal mechanistic interactions. That is, applying the knowledge-based vision approach in the understanding of evolved systems (machines or animals) may well lead to theories and models which are internally consistent, computationally plausible, and entirely wrong.

Investigating the Role of the Components of the Knowledge-Based Economy in Iran Present Situation and the Vision Plan Countries Using Multiple- Group Discriminant Analysis and K-Mean Differentiation Analysis

Objective: One of the long-term goals and strategies of the country for development in the 20-year vision plan is the development of the knowledge-based economy, so that with pursuing this strategy, Iran could become a knowledge-based economy by 1404. The purpose of this research is to explain the economic status of Iran among regional competitors based on the components of knowledge-based econ...

تشخیص درب مبتنی بر بینایی ماشین در صحنه‎های بیرونی

Doors are a significant object for the visually impaired and robots to enter and exit buildings. Although the accuracy of door detection is reported high in indoor scenes, it has become a difficult problem in outdoor scenes in computer vision. The reason may lie in the fact that such properties of a simple ordinary door such as handles, corners, and the gap between the door and the ground may n...

Comparison of Different Targets Used in Augmented Reality Applications in Ubiquitous GIS

Drilling requires accurate information about locations of underground infrastructures or it can cause serious damages. Augmented Reality (AR) as a technology in Ubiquitous GIS (UBIGIS) can be used to visualize underground infrastructures on smartphones. Since smartphone’s sensors do not provide such accuracy, another approaches should be applied. Vision based computer vision systems are well kn...

Evaluation of Hemodynamic Response Function in Vision and Motor Brain Regions for the Young and Elderly Adults

Introduction: Prior studies comparing Hemodynamic Response Function (HRF) in the young and elderly adults based on fMRI data have reported inconsistent findings for brain vision and motor regions in healthy aging. It is shown that the averaging method employed in all previous works has caused this inconsistency. The averaging is so sensitive to outliers and noise. However, fMRI data are o...
